CORONAVIRUS NOTICE #12

MESSAGE DE ROBERT FRANCES

Dear advisors,

Another week that was high in emotions has come to an end. I am particularily proud of the work we have done and our recent accomplishments.

I would first like to thank and congratulate you for the important work you do for Canadian investors. We are recognized as an essential service by the governments and your work and advice and your presence for your clients is an inspiration to us.

From an employee standpoint, we end our second week of 100% telework. Our 138 employees are all safe and continue their work, from their homes. We have transformed PEAK from five offices to more than 138 PEAK work sites!

I would personally like to thank them all, our heroes. Heroes that ensure that business continues and who ensure that all the work is completed on your behalf.

For those who have not yet done so, I would like to remind you to fill out the questionnaire which we had sent you yesterday. It will only take you a few minutes, and in the end, it will give us the opportunity to assist you best in these difficult times.

Some of the information requested may seem redundant or mundane, yet it is important to help us validate certain data.

Our daily communique will return on Monday. I wish you all a very peaceful and serene weekend, notwithstanding the current situation. Without a shred of doubt, this is a difficult period. However, I sincerely believe that we will come out of this period better for it and that society will also experience a positive change.

Meanwhile, let us together continue to respect the public health guidelines concerning isolation and social-distancing measures.

Sincerely

Robert Frances
President and CEO

  1. For individuals (other than trusts), the return filing due date will be deferred until June 1, 2020.
    • However, individuals who expect to receive benefits under the GSTC or the Canada Child Benefit not to delay the filing of their return to ensure their entitlements for the 2020-21 benefit year are properly determined.
    • Payments on any taxes owing are deferred until September 1, 2020.
  2. The deadline for trusts, partnerships and non-resident (NR4) information returns are all extended until May 1, 2020.
    • Please note that this measure also affects the due dates for filing T3/RL16 and T5013/RL15 slips which would normally have been due March 31, 2020.
