CORONAVIRUS NOTICE #18

The Quebec Government announced that nonessential businesses are to remain closed for yet another 4 weeks, until May 4, 2020. We expect the rest of Canada to also adjust its restrictions. Although the physical confinement will continue well beyond what was originally anticipated, I am very pleased to report that everyone at PEAK is ready for however long this will take. We are there and we will be there for you!

On a positive note, a Google study shows that Canada is respecting the best practices in social distancing. At PEAK, we are proud to continue to contribute to this and to do our share to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Every employee has worked diligently to ensure we continue to provide the timely and diligent service you expect. We have asked them for extraordinary efforts, and they rose to the occasion.

Today, I am asking for your help. The pandemic has reduced revenues for PEAK and for each one of you. We have been working on several initiatives to help you be effective in the current environment. This week, we will be sharing some best practices and some strategies to help you be more productive but also to help us reduce costs and increase revenues where possible. We are all in this together and your help is greatly appreciated.

Here are some areas where we believe your clients, your practice, and PEAK can all benefit:

1. Choosing online statements instead of paper by mail
2. Moving accounts from client name to nominee name
3. Using electronic order placement and work processing
4. Using PEAK Insurance for all insurance business

We will be addressing these strategies in our communications this week. Please consider addressing these in your plans for the next few weeks. Just as we did in the past, we remain committed to do all that we can to keep all operations running smoothly, without any decreases to advisor payouts or employee layoffs. Please help us continue to do so.

Note that, Friday being a holiday, our weekly advisor video conference call will take place this Thursday, April 9, 2020, instead of Friday. The English one will be held at 1:30 pm (ET) and the French one at 2:30pm (ET).

COMMUNITY MOBILITY REPORTS

Did you know that Google has launched a new website: COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports? This site uses anonymous location history data collected from Google’s users to show the level of social distancing taking place in various locations from several countries. 

The COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports show data trends in six categories: retail and recreation, grocery and pharmacy, parks, transit stations, workplaces, and residential.

The whole purpose of these reports is to provide insights into what has changed in response to policies aimed at combating COVID-19.

Overall, Canada is doing very well. This is something that we should be proud of, because it is saving lives and will be very significant in the weeks to come.
