I am pleased to announce that all went very well!
This is quite extraordinary when we think that just a few weeks ago this would have been unimaginable. We have achieved what seemed utterly impossible when we were asked by our governments to consider this.
Under the circumstances, this reminds me of this quote from Francis of Assisi:
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
Our employees shined today even as many of them juggled family responsibilities, the interruptions caused by the epidemic, and the challenges of working in a new setting. I cannot express enough how grateful and proud I am of all they have done. Please join me in reminding them how much we appreciate all they do for us.
I also appreciate everything you are doing with and for your own clients in these difficult times. We remain committed in supporting you and we are here for you. Together we continue to improve people’s quality of life and the current crisis is no exception.
Today, we learned that the CRA is considering extending the 2019 income tax filing deadline.
Revenue Quebec, for those filing in Quebec, announced that it will extend the deadline to June 1, 2020, with balances payable July 31. Instalments due June 15 will be payable July 31. We remain hopeful that the CRA will follow.
We are also pleased that given the circumstances, IIROC has announced that it will suspend planned audits until further notice. We are hoping the MFDA will do the same.
We continue to monitor the work of the World Health Organization and our governments, and we remain committed to implementing the best practices in doing our share to fight this terrible virus.
Now that we can confirm that our services are deliverable with our employees working from home, we will be concentrating all our efforts in providing you additional support specific to the realities presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we witness the terrible outcome for many victims of this pandemic, let us never forget the importance of the work we do and how you are agents of hope and stability in an otherwise uncertain world.
Warm regards,
