This past week has brought some sad developments in the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic broke the 1,000,000 infections count, and over 50,000 people have died from this horrible virus. Our Canadian government announced over 80 billion dollars in aid programs.
The effect of the pandemic is not only economic. We all know friends, family or clients who are impacted one way or another. This week, we learned that many PEAK clients are infected. We also had clients, a husband and wife, pass away in Ontario, as reported by one of our fellow advisors. Our sympathies go out to their families.
Throughout this crisis, we continue to console ourselves through our mission. We continue to do our share to help people improve their quality of life even under the circumstances. We continue to be an essential service and a source of hope.
At PEAK, we carry on and our traditions keep us grounded. Our employees held online events, birthday celebrations, and even a retirement. We shared this story as well as some pictures on Thursday daily communication. Hopefully this brought a smile to your day.
We also shared with you some tips on cybersecurity and we have suggested articles to help you set up a teleworking structure.
Working from a remote workplace has its challenges, especially when it’s at home with others living with us. However, I would like to remind everyone that confidentiality is an essential priority at PEAK. This requirement applies to advisors as well. I invite you to take a look at some documentation below regarding confidentiality.
On a different note, I wish to share with you a study published in Wealth Professional. According to a Kantar study, 75% of Canadians expect their finances to deteriorate due to the impacts of the pandemic. This is almost as many as the number of Canadians concerned about their health and that of their families because of COVID-19 (80%).The article is insightful, with economic data and forecasts of unemployment. You can find the link to the full article further in this communication.
It is obvious that the pandemic and its negative economic consequences will put enormous pressure on workers and businesses. This is where your role as financial advisors becomes so important and crucial. As an independent financial advisor, you have critical and essential responsibilities in this crisis: to reassure our clients, to guide them to make wise choices and, above all, to convince them not to make emotional decisions.
We are living by PEAK’s mission: making the world a better place by helping Canadians achieve financial peace and prosperity. Thank you for being the front line carriers of our mission.
I wish you all a safe weekend.
Warm regards,
